TEWFI is recognized as a Charitable Foundation by The Government of India and all donations to it are tax exempt under Sec.80G of the
Indian Income Tax Act. Allotted FCRA Registration is No:075900801
under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976

Since our establishment in 1992, TEWFI has made a positive contribution to the lives of people in India through a range of initiatives in health care, child welfare and education. With the help of our friends from across the globe we hope to continue this work, and to grow and expand.

In 1995, we launched our most ambitious initiative to date, the Uluru Health Care Centre for the poor and disadvantaged in a region of need. It provides medical care to the villagers of Alampara and Kadapakkam, small farming and fishing communities, about 100 kms south of Chennai, and 46 kms north of Pondicherry, in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the first health care facility in the area, and caters for over 5,000 villagers

Since 2003 TEWFI has also provided a caring home environment at the Uluru Children's Home, which has been a great success providing secure accommodation for a number of young children as well as employment for local villagers.

Since 2004 following the Tsunami which devastated the region, TEWFI has begun providing mobile health care to cater for the physical and psychological needs of people in the surrounding area.

In 2005 TEWFI opened the doors of its first Computer Education Centre, which provides IT education to many people from the local village. Plans are currently under way to construct Phase II of the project, including the creation of a 40-computer training facility to be opened in early 2007.

TEWFI is also involved in many community development initiatives in the area.
Explore this website and discover more about TEWFI's current initiatives and hopes for the future. We have learnt that it is easy to make a difference, and harder to ignore the problems some sections of our society face.

JOIN US, HELP US AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT US !!

The East West Foundation of India is a charitable and educational foundation committed towards easing the suffering of the poor and disadvantaged in India.

In pursuit of this broad aim, TEWFI has focused its attention on three areas health care, child welfare and education. TEWFI is involved both in raising money to fund initiatives in these areas, and in actually undertaking fieldwork itself within the Indian community.

TEWFI is particularly interested in promoting knowledge of India's requirements in these areas overseas. Through this awareness, TEWFI hopes to encourage the sharing of resources, skills and expertise from around the world in order to enable it to assist those in need.

TEWFI also intends to foster knowledge and resource sharing with other indigenous organizations working to aid the underprivileged in India.
