We envision that our activities will serve the needs of local community in the five areas of health care, education, child rights and relief, community development and environmental sustainability ultimately empowering those within the community to educate and help themselves and one another. What we learn, we hope to be able to apply to other rural communities in need, either directly or through the education and guidance of other organizations.
Currently, TEWFI’s activities at Edaikazhinadu Town Panchayat are conducted in a number of its buildings:
- Uluru Health Care Centre: provides health care to the community at a nominal cost
- Vicki Standish e-Education Centre: computer education facility for the community
- Coastal Environment Education Centre: run in conjunction with Pitchandikulam Bio Resource Centre – Auroville
- Uluru Children’s Home: a home for abandoned, destitute or orphaned children
- UNDP Women’s Centre: facility for women’s activities
With your help, further initiatives will be implemented to develop the community including:
- Community Library: a home to a variety of books, audiovisual and electronic material alongside facilities for education.
- Vocational Training Centre: a dedicated centre for our current, and future, vocational activities.
- Accommodation: for staff, volunteers and visitors.
- Primary and Secondary School
- Uluru Arts Project: to include an arts school teaching dance, music, drama, as well as a studio and amphitheatre.
- Cow project: The project will ensure sustainability by paving the way to set up Bio gas plant and providing milk to the children at our Children’s home
- Uluru Arts Project: to include an arts school teaching dance, music, drama, as well as a studio and amphitheatre.
- Boy’s Dormitory: TEWFI would like to build a separate Boy’s dormitory in order to accommodate more boys who needs help
