The Uluru Health Care Centre (UHCC) serves the medical needs of a large population of 26,000 villagers. Many emergent cases occur during the hours when the UHCC is not open. To make sure that these cases receive immediate medical attention, an ambulance has been donated by the Rotary Club of Guam. This ambulance is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Many of those in surrounding villages are unable to make the journey to the UHCC as no reliable and convenient transport is available. This is particularly the case for older residents and for mothers with many children. The Centre provides a Mobile Clinic service twice every week which visits the surrounding villages. Large crowds of people regularly visit this clinic service, which is staffed by our doctor, one nurse, and a community social worker. This service also includes activities for pre-school children, nutritional advice and monitoring of patients.
