Rice Paddies and Fruit Trees

Empowering the community to be able to sustain itself given the environment and resources available, is an important mission for TEWFI. Some of the low-lying Foundation-owned land, which is situated next to the backwaters, used to earlier be rice paddies. In the near future, with sufficient funding, TEWFI hopes to regenerate this land so that it is once again usable. The plan is to then set up rice paddy fields and plant indigenous fruit trees (such as mango and sapota) on this land. Members of the community will then be given the responsibility of caring for these plants. Any produce from the land would be shared equally amongst those in charge. This community development initiative will add to the community's ability to sustain itself in the long-term.

If you or anyone you know has knowledge or funds, that may help us with our rice paddy and fruit trees scheme, please visit our donations page or contact us for more information.
